Pero Antic Loses Lawsuit Claiming Violent Arrest Against NYPD from 2015 Incident

A judge has ruled against former Atlanta Hawks forward Pero Antic in a lawsuit against the New York Police Department stemming from a 2015 incident outside of a nightclub.  

Per TMZ Sports, citing court documents, the judge ruled the officer in question didn't use excessive force because he "had to make a split second decision and his actions were not unreasonable."

Chris Copeland, who was a member of the Indiana Pacers in 2015, was stabbed outside of the club he was at with Antic and former Hawks forward Thabo Sefolosha. 

Antic and Sefolosha filed separate lawsuits against the NYPD in Apr. 2016, claiming the officers used excessive force and falsely arrested them. Antic was seeking up to $25 million in damages, according to TMZ's report. 

Derek Sells, Antic's attorney, told TMZ they "believe there are questions of fact that should be determined by a jury."

Since leaving the Hawks following the 2014-15 season, the 34-year-old Antic has been playing for Fenerbahce of the Euroleague and Turkish Basketball League.
