Yu Darvish Trade Rumors: Rangers Open to Dealing SP for 'Right Deal'

The Texas Rangers are reportedly willing to trade starting pitcher Yu Darvish for the "right deal."

ESPN.com's Jerry Crasnick reported the news Tuesday.                

According to Crasnick, Rangers general manager Jon Daniels started calling teams Monday to notify them that the ace is on the block ahead of the July 31 non-waiver trade deadline.

While a deal is possible, Daniels also reportedly made it clear that if he doesn't get an attractive offer, the team will keep Darvish and attempt to make an American League wild-card push despite its struggles this season.

Texas enters play Tuesday with a record of just 48-51, but it is only 3.5 games out of a wild-card spot in the competitive AL.

The Japanese hurler is set to hit free agency during the offseason and is in line to land a monster contract, so the Rangers risk losing him for nothing if they don't trade him.

So far this season, Darvish is 6-8 with a 3.44 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 143 strikeouts in 133.1 innings, making him one of MLB's premier power pitchers.

In five seasons (he missed all of 2015 because of injury), Darvish has been an All-Star four times.

He boasts career marks of 52-38 with a 3.32 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 11.0 strikeouts per nine innings.

Despite his status as a rental, Darvish should command a massive return since he is a legitimate ace who could be a game-changer for a championship-contending team down the stretch.
