Lucky Whitehead Arrest Warrant Issued for Failure to Appear in Court

Rob GoldbergJul 24, 2017

Former Dallas Cowboys receiver Lucky Whitehead has been issued a warrant for his arrest after failing to show in court on July 6, according to court records obtained by TMZ

He was summoned to court for a June 22 charge of shoplifting in Prince William County, Virginia. According to the report, he robbed a convenience store of less than $200 worth of items.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, he will now have a hearing on Aug. 10. Rapoport later spoke to Whitehead's agent, who asserted the wide receiver was not in Virginia at the time of the incident.

Following the news on Monday, Rapoport reported the Cowboys decided to cut Whitehead.

Whitehead has already had an eventful offseason. His dog, Blitz, was stolen from him and held for $10,000 ransom, which he posted about on Instagram.

Thankfully, the dog was returned to him a day later.

However, the latest issue could be more serious with the 25-year-old potentially facing legal ramifications for his actions.

Although Whitehead was a little-used player on offense and mostly made an impact on special teams, this continued a negative trend for the Cowboys when it comes to off-field problems.

As Bob Sturm of the Dallas Morning News noted, the team leads the NFL in suspensions over the past three years, with players missing 50 total games as a result. It is still early in the process for Whitehead, but even without being found guilty, the receiver could be suspended by the league under the personal conduct policy.

And now he is looking for a new team.
