4-Star CB Prospect Akeem Dent Commits to FSU
The Florida State Seminoles landed the class of 2019's top cornerback recruit Friday, as Akeem Dent committed to play for the school.
Scout.com's Corey Bender was the first to report the news before Dent confirmed it himself on Twitter.
According to Scout.com, Dent is a 4-star prospect who ranks as the No. 9 overall player and No. 1 corner in his class.
According to Bender, Dent said the following regarding his decision to play at FSU: "I just committed to Florida State. It's the spot. I have family up here and all that, and I know I'm going to go to the league. Knowing me, I'm going to get myself a spot. It's just that spot to be in and everything is just cool vibes. We click and all of us get along."
Earlier Friday, Tomahawk Nation tweeted video of Dent looking fluid in drills as part of Florida State head coach Jimbo Fisher's camp:
Bender added that Dent was formerly a Miami (Fla.) commit who also received offers from Florida, Michigan, Auburn, Ohio State, Tennessee, Ole Miss and LSU.
Dent is a native of Wellington, Florida, who has starred at Palm Beach Central High School.
He is listed at 6'0.5" and 170 lbs., and Bender mentioned his versatility in that he is capable of playing both cornerback and safety.
Florida State has sent several high-profile defensive backs to the NFL in recent years, and it has been among college football's marquee programs.
The Seminoles are perennial contenders in the ACC, and they are already building a formidable secondary for 2019 and beyond.
