Gilas Pilipinas vs. India: Time, Live Stream for 2017 William Jones Cup

Steve SilvermanJul 21, 2017

Gilas Pilipinas will try to return to its winning ways following a disappointing loss to Lithuania on Friday in the William Jones Cup.

The team will meet India at Taipei Peace International Basketball Hall in Taipei, Taiwan. The game is scheduled to tip off at 1 p.m. local time, which corresponds to 1 a.m. ET. The game can be live-streamed at Sports5, which makes all games in the William Jones Cup available for free.

Gilas Pilipinas (4-3) dropped a 91-80 decision to Lithuania (6-1), falling to the victors' power and strength along the front line.

Lithuania had a height advantage at every position over Gilas and gained an even greater edge with its shooting. Lithuania made an eye-catching 20 of 26 two-point shots and made 14 of 36 from beyond the arc.

Gilas Pilipinas head coach Chot Reyes was throughly impressed with Lithuania's effort, and he believes that his opponents are the strongest team in the William Jones Cup competition.

“In my mind, this is the best team here,” Reyes said, per Musong R. Castillo of Inquirer.net.

“We battled and we battled them on even terms. I am incredibly proud of our guys. We played a high-quality European team and I felt we gave them [Lithuanians] some concerns during the game. They had to come out and play really well [to beat us].”

Gilas had balanced scoring as Kiefer Ravena and Mike Myers each scored 14 points, while Matthew Wright and RR Pogoy both netted 13 points.

India is the only winless team in the tournament, having dropped seven straight games in the 10-team round-robin competition. The team was overpowered 121-72 by Canada in Friday's matchup.
