Manchester United Reveal Fan-Designed Third Kit for 2017-18 Season
Manchester United have revealed their fan-designed third kit for the 2017-18 season, which features the so-called Holy Trinity of George Best, Denis Law and Sir Bobby Charlton.
The legendary trio's statue stands outside Old Trafford, and they are now represented on the new silver kit, which was announced on United's Twitter account on Friday:
Per United, the designer of the kit was Red Devils fan Aniello Carotenuto, who won the honour in a competition set up by kit manufacturers Adidas:
Some of the alternative design entires can be seen on the Red Devils' official website.
United's statement on the new kit explained: "The statue of club icons [Charlton, Best and Law] represents a golden era for the club and this unique history was the inspiration for the new third kit."
The famous threesome helped United become the first English side to win the European Cup in 1968, 10 years on from the Munich air disaster which claimed the lives of eight of Sir Matt Busby's squad and 15 others.
The new kit will be worn during the 2017-18 season, which gets under way for United on August 13 with their Premier League opener at home to West Ham United.
