Jack Wilshere Reportedly Told He Can Leave Arsenal Amid Sampdoria Rumours

Gill ClarkJul 19, 2017

Jack Wilshere's Arsenal career could be coming to an end, with the midfielder having reportedly been told he can leave the Gunners this summer.

Wilshere is now into the final year of his current contract and is now considering his options, with Serie A side Sampdoria having already expressed an interest in bringing him to Italy, per John Cross of the Mirror.

Wilshere spent last season on loan at Bournemouth in a bid to prove his match fitness and was finally able to play regularly, as noted by Opta:

Although the midfielder did not manage to find the back of the net and only provided two assists his contribution to the Bournemouth side was notable, as highlighted by WhoScored.com:

However, Wilshere's season was again ended prematurely by injury, a fractured leg causing him to miss the end of the campaign and Arsenal's pre-season tour of Australia and China.

Per David Woods at the Daily Star, Wilshere has told friends he expects to be fit for the start of the new campaign, with Arsenal set to kick off their season against Chelsea in the Community Shield.

Per Kaveh Solhekol at Sky Sports, Sampdoria have already made an offer to Arsenal for Wilshere:

The Gunners must sell if he is not in their plans to avoid him walking away for free next summer.

Wilshere was linked with a move to Italy earlier this year, with Alex Miller of the Daily Mail claiming he was interested in signing for AC Milan.

Whether Wilshere would be tempted by Sampdoria is unclear as the club only finished 10th in Serie A last season.
