The left-back made 33 Premier League appearances for the Tigers last term but was unable to keep them in the top flight.
While recruiting from a back line that shipped 80 goals last season may appear to be a questionable move as Liverpool seek to strengthen defensively, the 23-year-old is a promising player who has shown improvement in recent years, particularly under Marco Silva.
The Scotland international is an energetic and pacy full-back who has the stamina and work ethic to get up and down the flank with remarkable regularity, and he would be a good fit under Reds boss Jurgen Klopp.
Robertson is not the finished article, but he is blessed with good technical ability and strong delivery into the box. He'd also offer a left-footed option on that flank in the final third, something lacking at Anfield last year with James Milner playing at left-back.
Squawka Football showcased Robertson's numbers from last season, which also demonstrated his impressive reading of the game:
His attacking instincts make him well-suited to a team that plays on the front foot, and if he can continue to develop his game under Klopp, he could grow into an excellent player.
Robertson may not yet be the top player Liverpool fans crave, but he'd arguably already be an upgrade on Alberto Moreno and could be a shrewd buy at the reported fee.
