Alvaro Morata 'Angry' with Real Madrid over Missed Man United, Chelsea Transfers

Rory MarsdenJul 17, 2017

Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata is reportedly "angry" that his club priced him out of a move to the Premier League by demanding Manchester United and Chelsea pay £80 million to sign him.

According to Diario Gol (via the Daily Express' Jack Otway), Morata "is hellbent on quitting Real" and is unhappy that Real's demands meant United were put off and instead opted to sign Romelu Lukaku. It's also reported Chelsea are unwilling to meet Los Blancos' valuation.

Real manager Zinedine Zidane rotated his squad to excellent effect in 2016-17 and Morata, 24, made 26 appearances in La Liga—12 from the bench—netting 15 goals and providing five assists, per WhoScored.com.

However, the Spain international was still a squad player, rarely starting the key matches, with either Cristiano Ronaldo or Karim Benzema preferred up top.

According to Diario Gol (via Otway), Morata does not want to spend another season down the pecking order at the Santiago Bernabeu, hence his frustration that Real are making it so hard for other clubs to sign him.

There may be a way out, though, with AC Milan closing in on signing him, per La Gazzetta dello Sport (h/t B/R Football):

Morata has experience in Italy, having played for Juventus between 2014 and 2016, so a switch to the San Siro could be ideal.
