Roma and Paris Saint-Germain compete in the 2017 International Champions Cup as the teams from Italy and Germany battle in the United States on Wednesday.

The ICC includes a cast of stellar names, but PSG have won the pre-season tournament for the past two years.

According to Jonathan Johnson of ESPN.co.uk, PSG have taken a squad to the United States missing several key players, including Julian Draxler after his involvement at the FIFA Confederations Cup for Germany. Full-back Serge Aurier, Hatem Ben Arfa and Grzegorz Krychowiak are also missing as their long-term futures in the capital remain in doubt.

PSG are in rebuilding mode after being usurped by Monaco in Ligue 1 last term, and they are desperate to reclaim their place at the top of the French ladder.

Roma have completed their fifth signing of a busy summer of activity as they captured striker Cengiz Under from Basaksehir.

PSG have won the ICC for two years running, but the strength of the competition is huge with the presence of Manchester United, Barcelona and Real Madrid in the United States leg.

The French team will want to claim a hat-trick of titles, but Roma have the defensive capabilities to neutralise their opponents.

Obtaining fitness will be the priority for Roma and PSG, but the lack of sharpness could see both teams take advantage in the attacking third of the pitch.

A high-scoring affair could be in the making as the sides flex their muscles ahead of the new campaign.
