The Georgia Bulldogs Remember a Tradition
As the Dawgs head to Nashville as a 7.5 point favorite, all of the Bulldog Nation is aware of how tough a road win is in the SEC, and how a victory in the Music City will help build some much needed momentum into the bye week and into the anual Cocktail Party in Jacksonville Halloween Weekend.
The Dawgs, in the middle of an identity crisis in which their defense has resembled a WAC defense, and the offense, despite some solid production, is missing a running game. How in the Dawg Nation can Georgia not run the Football? A school with legends such as Hershal Walker, Garrison Hearst, and Knowshon Moreno, is confused. and I am reminded of the Dawg team of 2002 and a game vs. Eli Manning and the Ole Miss Rebels. The game tight into the 4th quarter, the Dawgs behind Musa Smith ran the ball and the clock out for the remaining 9.30+ seconds to secure a victory. The Dawgs of 2009 can only dream of this sort of domination of the line of scrimmage.
Coach Mark Richt, a man of Faith, may need to get tough, hunker down, and advise his team of what a Georgia Bulldog Tradition is and will continue to be under his reign. Tough hogs in the trenches, controlling the line of scrimmage on both ends of the ball. Simple, and a solution to the identity crisis. I look to Coach Mike Singletary and what he has done with the SF 49ers. Tough, hard nosed, TEAM Football, with the boys in the trenches hitting the opposition until the whistle blows, and each opponent remembering the grit, and the will to win on the faces of these Dawgs.
The Dawgs, as they look to bring a big win back to Athens, needs to go back to the basics. I expect Mark Richt will and I expect a solid win in Nashville. A breakout performence by the team, no dancing to the latest hip hop single, and just good hard nosed football. This will be a foundation and a step in the right direction as the Dawgs look to the bye week, and the Gators over Halloween. A Dawg team that will win in Nashville, or win anytime in the SEC must run the ball, control the trenches, and be the "toughest" kids on the block. Are the Dawgs "Man" Enough to turn it around? It starts one game at a time, so Coach Beat Vandy and remind the team of the history of what it means to be a Dawg. My prediction: Dawgs 35 Vandy 7
