Johnson—whose daughter, Cha'iel, won the Junior Olympics' 800 meters in each of the last two years—responded by contributing $2,200 to the cause. The former NFL wide receiver's donation raised the overall tally over $4,000, bringing the team closer to its $5,000 goal.
The national track and field event will take place from July 24-30 in Lawrence, Kansas.
