Real Madrid Transfer News: Dani Ceballos Deal 'Moving Quickly,' Says Betis Chief

Christopher SimpsonJul 10, 2017

According to Real Betis president Angel Haro, things are "moving quickly" in Real Madrid's pursuit of Dani Ceballos.

Per Marca's Miguel A. Moran, he said:

"What is clear is that Dani has rejected the offer of a new contract at Betis. Real Madrid are saying that there is an agreement with them.

"More will be known in the coming hours but everything is moving quickly. We are talking to Madrid and in the next few hours there will be more news."

Ceballos caught the eye at the Under-21 European Championship with Spain, in which he built on a strong season with Betis with some superb performances.

Haro hinted Los Blancos could be set to pay more than his release clause and does not believe it can be seen as a failure in keeping hold of the 20-year-old:

"I don't think it can be considered like that. When a player rejects the offer you make him and a club comes in to pay his release clause or even a little more, there's not a lot you can do.

"No player, or even president, is more important than the club, and life will go on."

Bleacher Report's Sam Tighe reported the size of his buyout clause and believes the midfielder to be an exciting talent:

One of Ceballos' most eye-catching talents is his stunning footwork, which he uses to drive forward through midfield with the ball leaving opponents in his wake.

He did as much on plenty of occasions last year, per Squawka Football:

The youngster would also be well-suited to Barcelona, but according to football journalist Rafael Hernandez, the Catalan giants missed a trick in their own pursuit of Ceballos:

He appears to be nearing a move to the Santiago Bernabeu, though, and as Hernandez suggested, he may be allowed to remain with Betis for a year on loan.

That would perhaps be the best option so as to give him time to continue his development, but given manager Zinedine Zidane's willingness to rotate his side, he may still earn plenty of minutes in Madrid even if he no longer enjoys a key role.
