Ivan Perisic Bid from Manchester United Reportedly €5M Short of Inter Demands

Christopher SimpsonJul 9, 2017

Manchester United have reportedly bid €45 million (£39.8 million) for Inter Milan's Ivan Perisic as they edge closer to the Serie A club's €50 million (£44.2 million) valuation.

According to Calciomercato.com's Jean-Luca Mascaro, citing unnamed sources, the Nerazzurri have lowered his price tag having previously wanted more than €55 million (£48.7 million) for him.

United's biggest offer thus far has fallen short of that, but they are "inching closer" to it and could reach an agreement with the club with a slightly higher bid.

The club are looking to add further creativity and firepower to their side in the final third, and Perisic can supply both from the left wing, per Squawka Football:

The Red Devils were comfortably outscored by every other team in the top seven in the Premier League last term, while Bournemouth also netted 55 to United's 54.

United will be hoping to significantly improve on that by recruiting well in the transfer market this summer, not only through replacing Zlatan Ibrahimovic but also adding others who can increase their potency throughout the team.

Football journalist David Amoyal is an admirer of Perisic and believes he would be a perfect fit under Red Devils boss Jose Mourinho:

Bleacher Report's Sam Tighe echoed that sentiment, but German football writer Lars Pollmann has serious doubts over his consistency:

The Manchester outfit drew 15 league matches last year, and if they're to turn that around, they need attackers who can make match-winning contributions week in week out.

Given Perisic is 28, there would likely be someone younger available at a similar price, perhaps one for whom consistency is not an issue, but it appears United are set on the Croatian.

If the two clubs are only €5 million (£4.4 million) apart in valuation, it seems likely they will be able to reach a deal.
