GoFundMe Page Set Up to Pay Joel Embiid's NBA Fine for Saying 'F--k LaVar Ball'

Although Joel Embiid was fined by the NBA for inappropriate conduct on social media, his fans are ready to reimburse the Philadelphia 76ers star.

Per ESPN.com, Embiid was fined $10,000 for saying "F--k LaVar Ball" in an Instagram video, referring to the father of Los Angeles Lakers rookie Lonzo Ball.

It didn't take long for a GoFundMe account to be set up in the center's name, offering to pay his fine. As of 9 p.m. ET on Saturday, there was more than $1,000 pledged for donation.

Spike Eskin of Sports Radio WIP pointed out the page:

As Khadrice Rollins of Sports Illustrated noted, the donations are going toward Embiid's charity of choice instead of the player himself, which based on the latest updates is apparently the SPCA.

While the fine might prevent further vulgar outbursts from Embiid, he has become a fan favorite on social media and doesn't appear likely to slow down anytime soon. The feud between him and Ball seems to only be beginning.

The Sixers star referred to Ball during the NBA draft in a message to teammate Ben Simmons:

Ball then responded after the Instagram video, telling TMZ, "You gotta use cuss words when you don't have no intellect."

"He's not intelligent at all," Ball added. "He's worried about me? He should be worrying about playing."

Embiid has struggled to stay on the court in his early career, but when healthy, he has proved himself as one of the league's bright young stars.
