Recap

Djokovic struggled with his serve early and seemed to lose focus in the first set, as Gulbis fought to an early break and had the Serb running all over the court.

The Djoker clashed with the umpire and was seemingly going nowhere, but he switched gears in the eighth game to tie things up and immediately pushed his advantage to take the set.

Per tennis writer Carole Bouchard, he was aided by some major mistakes from his opponent:

The second set was hardly a contest, with Gulbis practically celebrating the one game he managed to win, avoiding a bagel.

But while Djokovic's serve was superb in the second set, he regressed in the third. Gulbis nearly found a break midway through the set, with the Serb solving the mess with a stunning passing shot, but it was clear Djokovic was far from his best.

Djokovic did find his best form again in the one-sided tiebreak, but his lack of consistency is troubling at this stage of the tournament.

Federer dropped serve once in his win over Zverev but was otherwise never troubled in an easy three-set win. The scores were 7-6 (3), 6-4, 6-4.

The veteran remains the favourite for the title this year and once again wasted little energy on his way to the next round, a good omen for the near future.

Canada's Milos Raonic reacts after winning against Spain's Albert Ramos-Vinolas during their men's singles third round match on the sixth day of the 2017 Wimbledon Championships at The All England Lawn Tennis Club in Wimbledon, southwest London, on July 8

Earlier in the day, Raonic needed just three sets to get past Albert Ramos-Vinolas, while Mannarino caused a stir by upsetting compatriot Monfils.

The 29-year-old needed all five sets to get past Monfils but was clearly the better player by the end of their epic match.

Per Ben Rothenberg of the New York Times, things aren't about to get easier for the Frenchman:

There were no major surprises in the women's draw, although Angelique Kerber needed all three sets to get past Shelby Rogers.
