Bethanie Mattek-Sands Will Need Surgery on Knee Injury from Wimbledon 2017

Bethanie Mattek-Sands confirmed Saturday on Facebook Live that she will need surgery to repair a dislocated patella and ruptured patella tendon, according to TSN Tennis.
Mattek-Sands, 32, suffered the injuries Thursday during her second-round match at Wimbledon against Sorana Cirstea when she approached the net for a volley and her right knee buckled.
According to WTATennis.com, Mattek-Sands said she heard a "pop" when she stepped toward the net.

"I knew it was either dislocated or broken, and at that point, I kind of freaked out," she said on Facebook Live.
Mattek-Sands, who was stretchered off Court 17 after she was attended to by trainers for more than 10 minutes, also confirmed she will be out a "while" as she recovers from surgery.
