Marco Verratti Apologises to PSG for Agent's Comments
Marco Verratti has apologised to Paris Saint-Germain and their fans after his agent labelled him a "prisoner of Emir."
The player issued the apology via the club's official Twitter accountย after being linked to Barcelona.
"I saw what my agent said and just want to say that they are not my words at all," Verratti said in the video. "I want to apologiseย to everyone at the club, the president, the fans and the players. ... I have become the player I am today also thanks to the club, and that's why I'm deeply sorry."ย
Verratti's agent Donato Di Campli made the statement toย Corrierre dello Sportย (h/tย Sport).
According toย Sport'sย Ernest Folch,ย Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu has claimed the player wants to move to the Catalan club, but PSG are not willing to do business at present.
Bartomeu said:
"Verratti is a player we like. Robert [Fernandez] wants him to come, as do [Ernesto] Valverde and [Pep] Segura. And we know that the player wants to come to Barca. The problem is that PSG have now told us they don't want to negotiate. The fact there is no release clause is a problem because you can't go there and sign a player."
Verratti has developed into one of the planet's most desired midfielders, and the links to Barca have continued for weeks.
The Italian perfectly complements the Camp Nou club's style, and their summer rebuilding will likely begin in earnest after the recent departure of coach Luis Enrique.
