4-Star TE Prospect Luke Ford Commits to Georgia over Oklahoma, Alabama

Timothy RappDec 21, 2017

One of the top tight ends in the nation, 4-star Luke Ford, announced his intention on Thursday to play for Georgia, according to Steve Wiltfong of 247Sports.

"They use the tight ends and I get along great with Coach [Shane] Beamer and all the players," Ford said. "My goals in college are to win a National Championship and go to the NFL. Their school will give me an opportunity to do both."

Ford, who stands 6'6" and 248 pounds, is No. 49 player overall in 247Sports' Composite Rankings for the Class of 2018 and the No. 2 tight end.

The Carterville, Illinois, product had the chance to show off his skills at The Opening Finals in July, and he didn't disappoint.

"Ford is from a smaller school off the beaten path but showed he belonged among the nation's elite," a Scout analyst wrote. "He has great size and quarterbacks found him over the middle and he showed his ability to run after the catch in those situations as well."

That logically made Ford a major target for a number of schools looking to add a legitimate two-way tight end. As Ford adds polish and becomes a better and smarter blocker, he could be one of the truly dynamic foundations of Georgia's offense.

Suffice to say, fans of the Bulldogs should be very excited to get Ford into the fold.

In general, Georgia fans have to be thrilled, as the Bulldogs possess 247Sports' No. 1 recruiting class with six 5-star recruits, including quarterback Justin Fields and running back Zamir White.

"It’s crazy," Ford said of Georgia's incoming talent. "We are going to be something special."
