4-Star CB Prospect Jordan Miner Commits to Penn State over Tennessee, Florida

Timothy RappJul 6, 2017

Jordan Miner, a 4-star cornerback from Wesley Chapel, Florida, announced his commitment to Penn State on Twitter Thursday:

Miner, who stands 6'1" and weighs 185 pounds, is Scout.com's No. 34 cornerback in the Class of 2018.

The ranking site broke down Miner's game:

"Miner flashes impressive ball skills by high-pointing the ball, but also does a nice job of transforming into an offensive weapon once tucking it away. He also impresses with his ability to adjust and track the ball through the air. Miner has to continue to strengthen up his frame, but is a tough kid who is willing to come downhill with physicality. He does a good job of reading and reacting, and then closes on the ball in a hurry. Miner is not a blazer, but does a nice job of accelerating away from opponents."

Miner's commitment further improves a Penn State recruiting class currently ranked No. 6 in the nation by Scout which includes 4-star defensive end Dorian Hardy and 4-star safety Isaiah Humphries, along with 3-star corner Trent Gordon.

Miner played several positions in high school, including quarterback, but ultimately settled on cornerback.

"The hardest part of playing corner is not being able to see the whole field," he told Darek Sharp of the Tampa Bay Times in Oct. 2016. "But I like corner because you get to lock down one side of the field."

And his head coach, Mark Kantor, spoke highly of Miner's selflessness.

"Jordan's one of those kids, he comes off the field and right away says, 'Coach if you need me I'm right here, ready to go.'"

Penn State may not need him to make an impact immediately, but it's likely they'll be calling his number soon enough in State College.
