Wednesday Recap

Djokovic ran riot on No. 1 Court as he dropped just five games over the course of the contest.

The Serb wasn't at his best early on but was nevertheless a cut above the world No. 136 throughout.

The gap widened as the match wore on, with Djokovic making short work of Pavlasek to put an end to his first appearance at Wimbledon.

Djokovic is of course an old hand at SW19, as BBC Sport demonstrated:

Per BBC Sport, the world No. 2 said: "Overall I managed to impose my own rhythm and play the game I intended to play. It was very warm and hot and not easy to play point after point in some of the long rallies."

He'll play world No. 589 Ernests Gulbis in the third round after he shocked 29th seed Juan Martin del Potro 6-4, 6-4, 7-6 (3).

The Latvian edged out the Argentinian in all three sets of the hard-fought contest, sealing the win with a non-returnable serve to end the tiebreaker.

BBC 5 live's David Law believes Gulbis could be a threat to Djokovic if he can put in a repeat performance:

Edmund battled hard against Monfils, but it was the Frenchman who progressed 7-6 (1), 6-4, 6-4.

Three missed break points proved costly for the British No. 2 in the opening set, and a 3-0 lead for Monfils in the second helped him on his way, while Edmund was unable to capitalise on the same lead in the third.

Grigor Dimitrov put in a dominant showing against Marcos Baghdatis, winning 6-3, 6-2, 6-1.

Per Wimbledon's official Twitter account, the 13th seed sealed it with a sensational shot:

In the women's draw, Kuznetsova raced to a bagel against compatriot Makarova on the way to her straight-sets victory.

The latter made the second set a much more competitive affair, but she was still broken three times as she struggled on her own serve.

Ninth seed Agnieszka Radwanska also made it though, but she had a much more difficult time as she came from behind to beat Christina McHale.

Radwanska was on the verge of losing the second-set tiebreaker but battled back to win:

Elsewhere, 2015 finalist Garbine Muguruza beat Yanina Wickmayer 6-2, 6-4.
