Spirit of Troy: A

There are times in my life when I wish I could say, “I'm with the band, man!”  This sentiment is especially true when it comes to the USC Trojan Marching Band.

Game in and game out, the Spirit of Troy has adorned the sidelines, producing spirit-lifting jams that are sure to inspire, not only the players on the field but also most fans in attendance.

Often a forgotten member of the Trojans family, especially during football season, the marching band goes out of its way to provide entertainment and to lead the charge against the rest of the Pac-10.

Recently, the marching band has been making waves outside of the Coliseum, appearing as a guest performer on ABC's, Dancing With The Stars.  In fact, their performance was so good, it received praise from members of the media, who have not been impressed by most of the “filler acts” that have appeared during the current season of DWTS.

Song Girls: A++

The USC song girls are the only member of the Trojans community to earn a grade of A++.

You might ask, how can I give out a grade of A++?  It would seem unorthodox, but I am the grade-master, this is my article, and I will assign grades as I see fit.  The song girls certainly deserve such a grade.

What would Southern California football be without the girls in white parading around the sidelines and cheering on the team?  While some might argue that their cheerleaders are better, I say no!

There is no questioning the dedication and excellence that the USC song girls provide game in and game out.  Simply put, the song girls are the treasure of Southern California.

I could go on and on, but as the saying goes, a picture is worth a thousand words...

Special thanks to Tim Lutes for all the wonderful pictures. Check out Tim's site at
