Clippers Rumors: Tony Allen Sign-and-Trade Reportedly Being Explored by LA

With the Los Angeles Clippers suddenly light on guard depth, the squad reportedly is now interested in veteran guard Tony Allen. 

According to David Aldridge of Turner Sports, the Clippers are talking with the Memphis Grizzlies about a potential sign-and-trade deal for the 35-year-old.

In addition to Chris Paul being dealt to the Houston Rockets, J.J. Redick has agreed to a deal with the Philadelphia 76ers, per Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, while Jamal Crawford was part of a trade to the Atlanta Hawks, as reported by Chris Vivlamore of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

While the team added Patrick Beverley and Lou Williams among others in the Paul trade, adding another wing with experience could go a long way.

Allen is going into his 14th year in the league but averaged a career-high 27 minutes per game last season. He averaged 9.1 points per game with inconsistent shooting, but his biggest contributions come on the defensive end where he often matches up against an opponent's top perimeter scorer.

He was named second-team All-Defense last year, the sixth time in the last seven years he was named to one of the two teams.

Adding in his experience of winning an NBA title with the Boston Celtics in 2008 and he could be a perfect addition for a Clippers squad trying to stay competitive in the Western Conference.
