Fans and surely exhausted Buffalo, New York, recreational league players had a lot to celebrate Sunday evening.
The players had completed the longest ever hockey game on record at an astonishing 10 days, 10 hours, three minutes and 21 seconds, raising over $1.2 million to benefit Buffalo's Roswell Park Cancer Institute.
The marathon game was the brainchild of environmental engineer Mike Lesakowski, whose wife, Amy, beat breast cancer at Roswell Park in 2009.
With an original goal of just $200,000, 40 league players battled extreme fatigue and countless injuries to reach their goal.
