Tom Brady Addresses Wife Gisele's Comments on Concussions

Joseph ZuckerJul 2, 2017

New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady neither confirmed nor denied his wife's assertion he had suffered an unreported concussion this past NFL season.

During a segment on ESPN's E:60, ESPN anchor Kevin Negandhi asked Brady how much he and Gisele Bundchen discuss the physical toll he feels as a result of his playing career. CBS Sports' John Breech transcribed Brady's response:

"She's there every day. I mean, we go to bed in the same bed every night, so I think she knows when I'm sore, she knows when I'm tired, she knows when I get hit. We drive home together [from games]. But, she also knows how well I take care of myself. She's a very concerned wife and very loving."

On CBS This Morning in May, Bundchen claimed Brady had suffered a concussion at some point during the 2016 season:

FoxSports.com, which lists injury information for Brady dating back to 2013, doesn't list a concussion among his ailments from the past four seasons. The five-time Super Bowl champion hasn't missed a game for health reasons since he tore his ACL and MCL in the opening week of the 2008 campaign.

Two days after Bundchen's interview, Brady's agent, Don Yee, said the 39-year-old was never diagnosed with a concussion during the 2016 season.

Without mentioning Brady specifically, Patriots head coach Bill Belichick said in June the team follows the guidelines regarding the reporting of player injuries.

"We file injury reports every week," he said, per USA Today. "So I'm not sure when the next one's due, probably sometime in September, but we'll have one for you then."
