Mookie Betts finished 4-for-6 in the Boston Red Sox's 15-1 win at the Toronto Blue Jays on Sunday, and with eight RBI, he tied the record for a leadoff hitter.

Betts' first RBI came on a single in the top of the second. Then, he hit a three-run home run in the fourth and a two-run homer in the sixth.ย The end of Betts' offensive barrage came in the top of the seventh, when he plated two more runs with a single. The Red Sox scored eight times as a team in the top half of the inning.

The eight RBI tied a career high for the 24-year-old. He drove in eight runs as the No. 3 hitter in Boston's 16-2 home win over the Arizona Diamondbacks on Aug. 14, 2016.
Last year, Betts finished second in WAR among American Leagueย position players (7.8), perย FanGraphs. Sunday's performance continued what has been another big season for the 2016 All-Star. He entered the contest batting .278 with a .487 slugging percentage and 13 home runs. The eight RBI represented nearly a fifth (18.6 percent) of his season total (43 RBI) before the game.
