Nick Young Rumors: Warriors, Thunder, Pelicans Interested in Free-Agent SG
Mark Medina of the Los Angeles Daily News reported Saturday that the Golden State Warriors, Oklahoma City Thunder and New Orleans Pelicans have all shown interest in free-agent guard Nick Young.
Young spent the past four seasons with the Los Angeles Lakers and became an unrestricted free agent after declining his player option.
The 32-year-old Young was primarily a bench contributor in his first three seasons with the Lakers, but he started 60 games in 2016-17 and produced 13.2 points, 2.3 rebounds and 1.0 assists per game.
Young also shot 40.4 percent from beyond the arc, which was the second-best rate of his 10-year NBA career.
The former Washington Wizards, Los Angeles Clippers and Philadelphia 76ers sharpshooter would be a good fit for any of the three teams rumored to have interest in him.
Golden State is already the most dangerous shooting team in the NBA, and Young would provide a good spark off the bench behind Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Kevin Durant.
Both OKC and New Orleans struggled from a shooting perspective last season, which would make Young an ideal addition.
The Thunder need more shooters to take advantage of NBA MVP Russell Westbrook's playmaking ability, while the Pelicans need outside threats to supplement Anthony Davis and DeMarcus Cousins in the paint.
While Young is a somewhat one-dimensional player, shooting is at a premium in the NBA, which makes him a valuable commodity on the open market.
