Gordon Hayward Rumors: Hassan Whiteside, Host of Heat Players in FA Meeting

Rob GoldbergJul 1, 2017

The Miami Heat left their meeting with Gordon Hayward believing it went "very well," according to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald.

The free-agent wing met with team officials Pat Riley, Erik Spoelstra and Alonzo Mourning as well as five players headlined by Hassan Whiteside.

Hayward is expected to visit the Boston Celtics on Sunday and the Utah Jazz on Monday. While Miami has confidence after a meeting that lasted several hours, the organization won't make significant moves until it learns its fate with the high-priced player.

As Bleacher Report showed, Miami's attempts to impress Hayward went a long way:

Kevin O'Connor of The Ringer noted why the Heat are the current favorites:

The 27-year-old is coming off his best career season, with an average of 21.9 points per game helping him earn his first All-Star selection.

All three contending clubs are expected to offer Hayward a max contract, although the Jazz can add an extra year as the player's current team.
