Wayne Selden Reportedly Re-Signs with Memphis Grizzlies on 2-Year Contract

Joseph ZuckerJul 1, 2017

The Memphis Grizzlies agreed to terms on a two-year contract with Wayne Selden, Basketball Insiders' Michael Scotto reported Saturday.

Selden appeared in 11 games for the Grizzlies last year, averaging 5.0 points, a rebound and 1.1 assists per game.

The 22-year-old spent the bulk of his season in what is now the NBA G League with the Iowa Energy. He averaged 18.5 points in 35 games and showed nice range, shooting 34.9 percent from three-point range.

Selden joined Iowa as an undrafted rookie. He parlayed his success there into a 10-day contract with the New Orleans Pelicans. Upon the expiration of that deal, the Grizzlies signed him for the remainder of the 2016-17 season.

Given his age, Selden is a solid cost-effective solution to provide Memphis with depth at 2-guard. The team will likely continue looking for another shooting guard, with Tony Allen and Vince Carter both free agents this summer.
