Clippers Rumors: Danilo Gallinari Among Targets After Blake Griffin Contract
The Los Angeles Clippers are not resting on their laurels as free agency gets underway on Saturday, even after it was reported Blake Griffin would remain with the team.
The Vertical's Shams Charania reported Friday night Griffin was nearing an agreement to remain with the Clippers for five years and $173 million.
ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski said during an appearance on The Jump (via Rotoworld's Michael Gallagher) that Danilo Gallinari and Joe Ingles are on the Clippers' radar.
With Griffin reportedly on his way back to Los Angeles, Gallinari would be an unusual fit for the team because he and Griffin have extensive injury histories.
Gallinari has missed at least 19 games in each of the last four seasons, including the entire 2013-14 season due to a torn ACL. He's an effective shooter when healthy with a 37 percent success rate from three-point range in his career.
The Italian star isn't expected to come cheaply, with Sean Deveney of the Sporting News reporting he was seeking a deal in the range of Chandler Parsons' four-year, $94 million pact with the Memphis Grizzlies last summer.
Ingles was a solid role player for the Utah Jazz last season. He averaged 10.6 points and 4.8 rebounds per 36 minutes in 82 games, per Basketball-Reference.com, and his 44.1 three-point percentage ranked fourth in the NBA.
