Lakers Rumors: Andre Iguodala, Rajon Rondo Reportedly Meet with Los Angeles

Scott PolacekJun 30, 2017

The Los Angeles Lakers reportedly have their eyes on a couple of noteworthy names as the free-agency period begins.

On Saturday, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reported the Lakers talked with free agents Andre Iguodala and Rajon Rondo. Marc Stein and The Undefeated's Marc J. Spears reported Friday the Chicago Bulls waived Rondo, while Iguodala is an unrestricted free agent.

The Iguodala news comes after Chris Haynes of ESPN reported Friday the wingman would meet with the San Antonio Spurs.

Iguodala has played with the Golden State Warriors the last four seasons, helping them win two titles and capturing the 2015 NBA Finals MVP in the process. The two-time member of an All-Defensive team battled with LeBron James in the last three Finals and can serve as a veteran leader for stretch forward Brandon Ingram should he sign with Los Angeles.

As for Rondo, the Lakers' point guard spot is taken after they drafted Lonzo Ball with the No. 2 pick.

However, like Iguodala with Ingram, Rondo could be a veteran leader and mentor Ball if he signed with the Purple and Gold. Although he struggled at times with the Bulls this season and tallied just 7.8 points and 6.7 assists (11.7 in 2015-16) per game, Rondo is still a four-time All-Star who won a title with the Boston Celtics.

Iguodala and Rondo are playoff-tested pieces who could help turn around the culture in Los Angeles after the Lakers suffered through four straight losing seasons.
