Manny Pacquiao Net Worth, Projected Horn Purse Earnings, Fight Predictions
Manny Pacquiao is set for another eight-digit payday when he takes on unheralded challenger Jeff Horn on Sunday (Saturday night in the U.S.) at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane, Australia.
Grantlee Kieza of the Courier-Mail reported Pac-Man will receive a $10 million guaranteed purse for defending his WBO welterweight title in his opponent's hometown.
The 38-year-old Filipino southpaw is no stranger to massive payouts. He's been one of the biggest draws in boxing for a decade, allowing him to accumulate an impressive net worth that will have grown a little larger come Sunday night.
He enters the bout with a consensus about his financial value. Celebrity Net Worth lists the boxer, who is also a senator in the Philippines, at $190 million. TheRichest has him at the same amount.
Interestingly, Pacquiao spent time chasing an even bigger payday via a fight with Amir Khan in the United Arab Emirates, but it fell through.
Dan Rafael of ESPN.com noted an unnamed UAE investment group placed a $38 million purse on the table, but it never came to fruition despite both fighters announcing the deal via social media earlier this year. Top Rank promoter Bob Arum said the clash could still happen if the money materializes.
That said, getting $10 million for a fight for which he's the definitive favorite is a rock-solid deal—OddsShark reports the WBO welterweight champion is a 17-100 favourite.
Pacquiao holds a nearly across-the-board advantage over Horn, who's making a major step up in the level of competition after starting his career 16-0-1. The challenger does boast some serious power, however, so the titleholder may opt to play it safe to limit the risk.
It's a fight wherein Pac-Man should be looking to earn a knockout victory, which would be his first since 2009, if he wants to prove he is still one of the best boxers on the planet. But a more conservative approach en route to another triumph by unanimous decision is the more likely outcome.
