Colt Lyerla to Serve 30 More Days in Jail for Escaping Correctional Facility
Former Oregon Ducks tight end Colt Lyerla had his jail sentence extended by 30 days Tuesday after he escaped from the Washington County Community Correction Center in May, according to the Oregonian's Everton Bailey Jr.
Lyerla is in the midst of serving a six-month sentence after he was convicted on charges of forgery, drug possession and driving under the influence of intoxicants, per the Oregonian's Tony Hernandez.
One day after Lyerla escaped from the correctional center, police confirmed the 24-year-old had been located and transported to the hospital following an apparent overdose on heroin.
"You're really on the edge of both life and the legal system," Judge D. Charles Bailey told Lyerla on Tuesday, per Bailey Jr.
During the hearing, Lyerla also reportedly admitted he has "a problem that I have to deal with."
