Manchester City Transfer News: Sergio Aguero's Agent Responds to Latest Rumours

Gianni VerschuerenJun 25, 2017

The agent of Manchester City star Sergio Aguero has dismissed rumours his client could leave the club for Paris Saint-Germain or Inter Milan this summer.

Le Parisien (h/t ESPN FC's Jonathan Johnson) previously reported the Ligue 1 giants were looking at the Argentina international as an alternative for star youngster Kylian Mbappe:

Per Goal's Dejan Kalinic, Aguero's agent, Hernan Reguera, quickly moved to dispute those claims, telling Tuttomercatoweb: "They [City fans] should not have any doubt or fear. Sergio remains at Manchester City. It is safe. There has never been an offer. They never presented the opportunity to get away from City. As I said, he is happy and will remain."

He also said City and Aguero have yet to engage in talks regarding a new contract, a move that makes sense. The forward has previously told Independiente en la Uno (h/t TalkSport) he plans to return to Argentina once his current deal expires.

The 29-year-old has been with City since 2011, acting as the team's primary attacking option for years. The emergence of Gabriel Jesus last season impacted his role, however, with manager Pep Guardiola seemingly planning on using the Brazilian as his preferred striker.

Meanwhile, plenty of Europe's top clubs are in need of a top striker, and there's a good chance plenty of forwards could move as a result. The Citizens themselves have been linked with several options, including Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang of Borussia Dortmund, per Sky Sports.

But while Aguero could be an option for plenty of clubs should someone like Aubameyang arrive at the Etihad Stadium, plenty of pundits believe he won't move. Football writer Shane Burns is among them:

After a rocky first season in England, big things are expected from Guardiola. He'll need depth and star power to compete on all fronts, and Aguero's experience within the club could prove vital.

The Citizens aren't exactly short on cash―it's worth keeping the fan favourite around, even if he won't be an automatic starter next season.
