Manchester City Transfer News: Kyle Walker Price to Remain £50M, Latest Rumours

Gianni VerschuerenJun 22, 2017

Tottenham Hotspur will reportedly not budge on their £50 million asking price for Manchester City target Kyle Walker, with the proposed transfer not expected to be completed before next week.

Per Jack Pitt-Brooke of The Independent, the two clubs have been in talks this week, with the Sky Blues growing frustrated by Spurs' refusal to come down from their asking price.

According to the report, the Citizens were hoping for another quick transfer after sealing moves for Bernardo Silva and Ederson in efficient fashion. Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy has no interest in making life easy on City, however, knowing full well he has all the leverage in the talks.

Walker signed a new contract with Spurs last season, binding him to the club for the next four seasons. Unless City come up with a huge offer, Tottenham have no reason to sell. Per the report, City are also looking at Juventus veteran Dani Alves, but ideally, the Citizens would like to sign both.

As shared by Sam Lee of Goal, Juventus CEO Beppe Marotta has confirmed Alves is available after they released him from his contract:

While Alves showed he's still a top player last season, it's fair to ask how much the 34-year-old has left in the tank. Walker would be able to lock down the position for years to come for City, who didn't get much production from their right-backs last season.

Kieran Trippier impressively filled in for Walker toward the end of the season, so Spurs don't have to look for a high-level replacement. Per John Percy of the Daily Telegraph, Tottenham are ready to offer the former Burnley man an improved contract.
