14-Year-Old 1-Armed Catcher Receives First Pitch Before Orioles Game

A young man with a dream of one day playing in the major leagues was a special guest of the Baltimore Orioles ahead of the club's home game versus the Cleveland Indians on Wednesday evening.

As Eduardo A. Encina of the Baltimore Sun explained, 14-year-old Luke Terry lost his right arm when he was only 19 months old because of an E. coli bacterial infection, but that hasn't prevented Terry from playing the game he loves.

The middle school athlete from Tennessee spent some time working with Baltimore catchers Welington Castillo and Caleb Joseph on Wednesday afternoon.

Terry also caught the ceremonial first pitch, which was delivered by Hall of Famer Jim Palmer.
