Jarvis Landry Will Not Hold out from Dolphins as Part of Contract Negotiations

Miami Dolphins wide receiver Jarvis Landry's agent told Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald on Tuesday that the wideout will not hold out despite his desire for a new contract.

Damarius Bilbo told Jackson that Landry will take part in training camp and will play during the regular season, but won't negotiate a new deal once the season starts.

Bilbo said he and Landry are open to negotiations prior to the season and added that they aren't upset a deal hasn't gotten done yet:

"The ball is still in their court; we are happy to go into a fourth year healthy and eager to put another year in the books. ... Why get mad over something that he signed as a four-year deal? It is what it is. There will be no ill will. He has never considered a holdout. He would never consider not getting better at football."

Bilbo also told Jackson that he and the Dolphins have yet to discuss monetary figures.

The 24-year-old Landry is coming off another strong season, as he reeled in 94 receptions for 1,136 yards and four touchdowns.

He has made the Pro Bowl in each of the past two seasons and remains Miami's unquestioned No. 1 receiver.

There is a significant disconnect between Landry's production and compensation, as he will make just $893,852 in base salary in 2017, which is the final year of his contract, per Spotrac.

The Dolphins have a pair of solid complementary options in DeVante Parker and Kenny Stills, but with an average of 96 catches per season during his NFL career, Landry is quarterback Ryan Tannehill's most trusted target.
