Manchester City Transfer News: Alexis Sanchez Patience to Be Shown, Top Rumours

Gianni VerschuerenJun 20, 2017

Manchester City are willing to be patient in the race to land Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez, amid rumours Chelsea and Bayern Munich are also interested in the soon-to-be free agent.

Per ESPN FC's Jonathan Smith, the Citizens believe Sanchez would pick the Etihad Stadium as his preferred destination if the Gunners do sell, but Arsenal maintain he will stay at the club.

Sanchez has just one year left on his current contract and is yet to give any indication he's open to a renewal. His value is shrinking every day, which plays into the hands of his suitors, including City.

The Sky Blues already boast plenty of star forwards and can afford to play the waiting game. Per the report, they won't pursue Borussia Dortmund's Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Sanchez has been a crucial player for Arsenal since signing in 2014 and put together another fine campaign last season, per WhoScored.com:

But the 28-year-old hasn't come close to winning the Premier League title with the Gunners, despite all of his hard work. A lack of UEFA Champions League football in the 2017-18 campaign only weakens Arsenal's position.

A move at some point in the future seems likely, and Arsenal will have to decide whether they want to cash in this summer or risk losing the Chilean for free if he opts against signing a new contract.
