Christopher SimpsonJun 20, 2017

Arturo Vidal could be set to headline Team of the Week 40 when EA Sports announce the latest round of FIFA 17 Ultimate Team upgrades on Wednesday, in a lineup that might also feature plenty of MLS talent.

Vidal scored the opening goal in Chile's 2-0 win over Cameroon at the Confederations Cup on Sunday.

There were also a number of top performances in the United States as David Villa, Ignacio Piatti and Bradley Wright-Philips each bagged braces since the last Team of the Week was released.

EA Sports will announce Team of the Week 40 on Wednesday, June 21, at 3 p.m. BST (10 a.m. ET), and the in-form players will be released into card packs at 6 p.m. BST (1 p.m. ET) later that day. Stats and ratings have been provided by FUTHead.com

If a player's original rating is the highest available in bronze (64) or silver (74), his first in-form cannot feature an overall increase but will feature improved individual stats.

Arturo Vidal, Chile

Vidal received a 90-rated in-form card as recently as TOTW 38, but after he made the difference for La Roja in their opening Confederations Cup match he could be in line to feature again.

The midfielder broke the deadlock in the 81st minute when he headed home Alexis Sanchez's cross, before Eduardo Vargas made sure of the result in injury time.

As noted by sports writer Zach Drapkin, the goal was a milestone for the 30-year-old:

Meanwhile, Russian football expert Artur Petrosyan was taken in by the rest of his game:

Vidal is arguably the best all-round midfielder in FIFA 17 and on his 90-rated IF, all of his attributes aside from pace were rated between 90 and 92.

His pace wasn't significantly lacking at 80 either, and if he features again on Wednesday his stats will creep up ever higher.

David Villa, New York City FC

Villa enjoyed a tremendous outing as New York City came from behind to beat the Seattle Sounders 2-1.

Cristian Roldan had given his side the lead, but a penalty and volley from a tight angle gave the Spaniard a landmark tally in MLS:

He managed to reach the milestone quicker than the man he replaced at Barcelona, Thierry Henry:

The 35-year-old last IF was 86-rated overall, and despite his age it included a 77 base pace stat.

That could potentially reach the even more useful 80 mark if he features here, while his 88 dribbling could breach the truly elite 90 level.

Ignacio Piatti, Montreal Impact

Piatti may not have been able to guide his side to victory against Orlando City, but it wasn't for lack of trying as he grabbed an assist and two goals.

He set up Blerim Dzemaili for Montreal's opener after harrying an Orlando defender out of possession, and he grabbed his brace in the space of a minute, latching onto Dzemaili's pass for the first before eluding Orlando's defence once again to turn home his second.

CTV Montreal's Sean Coleman was in awe:

It's easy to see why the Argentinian's best base stat is his 83 dribbling, and after showing some nifty footwork for both goals it's likely to improve healthily if he's included in the lineup.

His 77 pace and 76 shooting have a chance to hit 80, and his 73 passing seems likely to receive an upgrade after providing an assist.
