My Personal Thoughts On Week 5 In The NFL
My Monday night review of what happened in the NFL.
Browns – Saw the highlights on NFL primetime, and they were highlights of punting. Derek Anderson completes 2 passes for 27 yards and 1 int. and they win?
Bills - Read above. Dick Jauron has 1 winning season in 10 years. With T.O. Lee Evans and Lynch this team should be able to get more then 1 field goal against the Browns. Jauron finally gets fired, but is it before he dooms the team to Canada?
Steelers – there 3 wins are against teams with loosing records. There losses are against teams with winning records. The only game they won by more then 10 points they had 2 more rushing attempt then passing attempts. Oh and Culpepper didn’t look half bad without Calvin Johnson against there Defense. They better find there game soon or it is over
Lions – There headed in the right direction, but who wants to see Culpeper running this team for long? Get well soon Stafford
Cowboys – took 2 positions in overtime to win the game against the winless Chiefs. I’m just saying!
Chiefs – Cassel is still overpaid, but nice drive at the end to tie the game up! I’m a fan of Bowe, and if Cassel is as good as the chiefs thinks he is, and then this team might be headed in the right direction.
Vikings – I hate Brett Farve, but they are still undefeated, so what can I say?
Rams – Watch out Lions, this team is looking to do what you did last year and go winless. According to sports center, they are statistically worse then the lions were last year, but got to love that TD celebration by Avery right?
Raiders – They may have won there only game all year against the chiefs (I’m picking the chiefs in the rematch) and yet will get the 2nd overall pick… wait, that’s right, New England is getting that pick. Might as well, the Raiders may be surprised when the player they have slotted there on there draft board is available when there 1st pick comes around in the 2nd round. But is it fair to give a team that know how to draft and is already good that pick? Way to mess that one up Al!!
Giants – Scary good. Eli plays one half and they still blow out the raiders. I know it is the raiders, but still... Scary good. They pull the Saints this week, there first real match up of the year. (Sorry cowboys, you don’t count)
Buccaneers – Why are they playing Josh Johnson? They drafted Freeman to be the QB of the future. I’m all for letting your young guy sit and learn behind a solid veteran, but who is Freeman learning from? Johnson is in his 2nd year. You don’t have much to loose, throw him in there, and see what ya got!!!
Eagles – they get the raiders this week, I will be comparing to how the giants did against them. I think when Curtis comes back, he well be the slot receiver. Maclin was drafted to take his spot, and last week showed he is just as good. No offense to Curtis, he is great, but will be even better in the slot.
Redskins – Well after firing there coach they can only go up right? Wait… what? Zorn hasn’t gotten fired yet? Does Dan Snyder still own this team? He does? WTF?!!!!!
Panthers – 1 win, and it was against the coach less Redskins (They might as well be coach less). It almost looks like it is time for Carolina to rebuild, but there is so much talent here I can’t explain it. Maybe Jake Delhomme is the problem? Or is it coaching? This team is better then that….Aren’t they?
Bengals – They are first in the NFC north? The same NFC north that had the Steelers and Ravens in the AFC championship last year? I give credit to Palmer... No way is Levi Smith responsible for that. Yup it is Palmer. Best USC QB in a while, just needs to stay healthy.
Ravens – Just when I talk them up, they go and loose 2 in a row! I still think they are the best team in the AFC. Just wait, you will see.
Falcons – There is that offense I heard everybody talk about in the off-season. 45 on a stout 49er’s defense is sick! Still don’t like the loss to New England. Showed some weakness that other teams that can throw the ball will exploit.
49er’s – They look much better when they play other teams in the NFC west. That isn’t a compliment. But hey they got Crabtree signed, and he gets to sit on the bench for most of the time. Want to place a bet who gets 10 catches first? Him or Heyward-bey, who has started all season, and was drafted over him?
Jaguars – Seattle just put on 41 one you. And you didn’t score a point. Must be the time difference? Oh wait, that only works with a west coast going east… hmmm... I guess Hasselbeck is that good when he is healthy. He even makes the defense better. Just because you’re playing an NFC west teams doesn’t mean you can’t show up on game day.
Seahawks - See Jaguars for how important Hasselbeck is to them.
Texans – they got shutdown on the goal line on 4 plays to tie the game at the end. Hmm… can score from anywhere on the field except from 2 yards or in? Next time try a fade route to Andre Johnson at least once!!
Cardinals – Saw a debate on Sports center who was better, Andre Johnson or Fitzgerald. I say Johnson is. He doesn’t have anybody playing across from him to help with double teams, and Schaub is good, but not Kurt Warner good. Which isn’t that good either unless you can protect him for like 10 seconds a snap? Fitzgerald has Bolden on the other side, and don’t underestimate him. Last year boldin was having a much better season then Fitzgerald until he got hurt.
Patriots – Another loss, and more passes then I’m used to seeing off target. How long till Brady gets back in Sync with his receivers?
Bronco’s – I have to admit, when the Pats got the ball with just under 2 minutes to play, the first thing that ran through my mind was, here comes another classic Brady drive to win the game. But turns out the bronco’s can play defense like everybody said they could. I know I said they would loose there next 4. I’m eating crow, but sooner or later you think that realty will hit and they won’t be able to keep up on offense with some other teams? But then again, as long as I keep saying they are not for real, they may keep winning. So here a different tactic. The Bronco’s may be for real… not willing to fully commit to it yet though.
Colts – Peyton Manning…. Nuff said
Titans – who wants to bet they are 0-6 by the time they hit there bye week? When will they realize there defense isn’t going to win games for them this year? When are they going to utilize there running game better? How long till Young comes in and we see option plays and wildcat?
Jets - *sigh* I say the jets are for real, and the bronco’s are not, and what happens, the bronco’s keep winning and the jets drop 2 straight. The AFC east is a mess this year. Who knows who is coming out of that division? Oh wait. The bills are in that division, k so I know who isn’t going to win that division.
Dolphins – I’m at work Monday night, and I get a txt from a friend that saying Henne has some sharp looking passes. I’m like what? This guy was supposed to get crushed by Rex Ryan’s defense. Instead he comes out and puts up 241 yards and 2 td’s nice change up from Pennington huh?
