US Open Golf 2017 Leaderboard: Live Look at Sunday Scores and Overall Prediction

Rob BlanchetteJun 18, 2017

American golfers dominate the leaderboard heading into the final day's play at the 2017 US Open on Sunday.

Brian Harman led the way on 12 under, as he edged ahead of Justin Thomas, who scored the lowest round in U.S. Open history with a round of 63 on Saturday.

Thomas starts the day on 11 under, tied with Brooks Koepka and Tommy Fleetwood.

The competition has ebbed and flowed over the past few days, and Thomas' incredible performance had golf fans excited during the third round.

The 24-year-old was lethal with the putter as he carved out a score of nine under as the birdies flowed at Erin Hills.

An eagle on the final hole was a crowning glory for the young player who has emerged as a burgeoning talent.

However, it is the consistency of Harman which has been one of the central stories during the championship.

Harman recorded a round of 67 to eclipse the top players on the leaderboard, and he will believe he has a strong chance of claiming a major.

Tommy Fleetwood has been one of the surprise packages of the open, and he is positioned to attack in the final round.

The 26-year-old has impressed on the European Tour and won the Abu Dhabi Championship to claim his second tour title.

The European Tour highlighted the Englishman's fine performance:

The field is tightly packed, suggesting a winner could sprint up the leaderboard to cause a surprise victory, but the form of Fleetwood shows momentum is with him, and he has the wind in his sails.

Five birdies on Saturday underlined his grit and quality, but a double bogey on the last took the shine off his scoring.

Rickie Fowler remains a challenger after being the early leader, and he started the day just two shots off the top.

If Fowler can recover his tactical consistency, which has fallen away with each round, he will challenge until the final holes.

However, Fleetwood would be a popular winner, and the energy in his game could see him crowned as champion.

Prediction: Tommy Fleetwood to win.
