
2017 US Open Spectator at Erin Hills Dies
An 94-year-old male spectator attending the 2017 U.S. Open at Erin Hills in Erin, Wisconsin, died Friday of natural causes, according to Golf Digest.
Per Fox 6 News, the Washington County Medical Examiner's Office was called to the site of the 117th U.S. Open to respond to reports of a death on the grounds.
Angelica Sanchez of Fox 6 reported the spectator died near hole No. 6.
"The USGA was saddened to learn that a spectator at Erin Hills passed away a short time ago," the United States Golf Association said in a statement, according to the Boston Globe's Ben Volin. "Out of respect for the family, we are unable to provide additional information at this time. Our thoughts and prayers are with those surrounding this individual during this difficult time."
