WWE Money in the Bank 2017: Booking a Historic, Memorable Women's Ladder Match
The women's division is finally poised to make use of the inherent madness and electricity of a WWE Money in the Bank ladder match.
The fight to become the inaugural female Money in the Bank winner will be historic thanks to it being the first of its kind, but that should only be the starting point. WWE can make the clash set for Sunday's pay-per-view one for the ages. It can be an instant classic should it borrow the best elements of Money in the Bank bouts of the past.
The bout should be a collection of thrilling moments, a demolition derby, a launching point for SmackDown's stars.

Most Likely Backlash Heel/Face Turns 🎭
WWE can begin that process by adding another name to the field. Currently, five women are set to compete for the guaranteed championship shot that fills the briefcase hanging over the ring—Charlotte Flair, Natalya, Becky Lynch, Carmella and Tamina.
That's smaller than the standard field—six or seven wrestlers usually collide in these contests.
The women's Money in the Bank ladder match would start with a bang should a Hall of Famer join the fray.
A Surprise Addition
After Flair, Lynch and the rest of the field make their entrances and stand in awe of the moment, SmackDown commissioner Shane McMahon could step out from the curtain, telling the audience he has an announcement to make.
McMahon would explain that he's decided to give one more Superstar a chance at glory. This person helped pave the way for the women's division today and is quite familiar with ladder-heavy environments, he'd tell the crowd.
And then Lita's music would hit.
Lita charging into this contest would be huge. Not only would it provide a memorable moment before the bout even began, but it would significantly add to the star power of the clash.
Insanity to Kick Things Off
The action should begin with an explosion of violence. A wild brawl breaks out with fists flying and wrestlers sending their rivals flying over the top rope.
This chaotic opening act would be a good chance to get Tamina some spotlight. She can grab a ladder and start smashing into everyone, leaving all opponents lying.
Just as Tamina then scales a ladder in the center of the ring, Flair slides in to push her over.
Momentum would shift from Superstar to Superstar in the following moments. This is a prime spot to include a series of dives out of the ring to show how far these women are willing to go for that briefcase.
The women would fill the highlight reel with high-risk moves.
Tamina could leap from the top rope out on to her opponents. Lita could hit a suicide dive that sends Natalya crashing into a ladder.
Rivalries Surfacing
After everyone has been put through their own touch of hell, the wrestlers would begin to look for an advantage amid the aftermath.
Carmella's manager James Ellsworth should play a role. He's been the incessant pest at Carmella's side and has often interfered in the action, especially matches involving Lynch. It would be hugely satisfying to see him get some comeuppance Money in the Bank style.
At one point, Ellsworth could climb a ladder in hopes of retrieving the briefcase for his girl. Lynch, though, would step up just in time to topple the ladder over and send Ellsworth crashing through a table.
The Welcoming Committee, meanwhile, should look to take out its primary target.
Carmella, Tamina and Natalya joined forces because they felt that Flair was receiving title opportunities too easily. They could look to make sure the second-generation star doesn't claim the match's prize on Sunday by ganging up on her.
A three-on-one attack should end with Natalya powerbombing Flair through a table in a callback to The Queen doing the same to her on the May 30 SmackDown.
Carmella can make her mark soon after by turning on her allies. She could yank Tamina off a ladder and send Natalya hurtling out of the ring to nab the briefcase herself.
Later on, Flair could pay back the trio of women colluding against her by hitting a moonsault from a ladder.
It's a gorgeous move in a normal situation. Seeing her perform it from an unsettling height would be breathtaking.
Storywise, it would allow her to down the group that has long plagued her with a single blow. And in terms of entertainment, it would be an image that gets added to the Money in the Bank mythos right away.
The Irish Lass Kicker's Coronation
As the match near its apex, wrestlers could eliminate each other from competition with desperate swings.
Carmella could take out Lita by snapping her ankle under a ladder outside the ring. Tamina could barrel through Carmella and Natalya by spearing them through the security barricade. That would leave Flair and Lynch to face off.
There would be a certain symmetry to them being the last two women standing.

They were enemies at NXT. Lynch was Flair's fiercest rival on the main roster for months in their 2015-2016 feud after both being a part of the short-lived PCB group. They have since become friends again.
Their history together would elevate the sight of them trading blows near the top of the ladder, both desperate to push the other out of their way.
During their brawl, they could fall to the mat together. After both struggling to get up, The Irish Lass Kicker could finish off Flair by sending her crashing into a ladder in the corner with a Bexploder Suplex.
That would free up Lynch to climb to the briefcase and claim it as her own.
WWE would be fattening Lynch's resume in a major way here. She would not only be the first SmackDown women's champ, but the first Ms. Money in the Bank as well. That will help sell her as a special talent.
And as she carries around the briefcase in the weeks and months ahead, WWE can toy with her character, allowing the briefcase to change her moral code.
Booking this match like this would pile moment atop moment, paint a memorable image of Carmella snatching the baton from Lita and inject the women's division as a whole with a healthy dose of momentum.
