4-Star TE George Takacs Commits to Notre Dame over Florida, Georgia
Notre Dame will add some size to its football team with the commitment of 6'7" tight end George Takacs.
The Florida native announced his decision on Twitter:
According to Scout.com, Takacs is a 4-star recruit and the No. 14 tight end in the country. He is considered the second-best player in the state at his position behind only Miami-commit Will Mallory.
While he earned coast-to-coast scholarship offers, from Florida State to Oregon and many schools in between, he chose to spend his college career with the Fighting Irish.
"I've always been a Notre Dame fan," he said, per Andrew Sodergren of the Naples Daily News. "I've been to several games in person and watch them all the time on TV. Being a part of this legendary program is a dream come true."
Even after a disappointing 4-8 season in 2016, Takacs will hope he can help turn things around in a hurry in South Bend.
At 6'7", 236 pounds, the tight end has great size that he can use in run blocking or as an unstoppable target near the end zone. He also has solid speed with a 4.87-second time in the 40-yard dash that could help him in the passing attack.
Even with other quality players on the depth chart at Notre Dame, Takacs has a chance to make an early impact.
