Richard Jefferson Laughs at GoFundMe Page Formed to Pay Dahntay Jones' Fines
The antithesis of Marshawn Lynch, Dahntay Jones only exists in the NBA playoffs to get fined.
During the Eastern Conference Semifinals' opening game against the Toronto Raptors, the Cleveland Cavaliers benchwarmer received two technical fouls and an accompanying $6,000 fine. Even though LeBron James declared his intentions to cover his teammate's penalty, Cavaliers fan Ricky Smith created a GoFundMe to fund the 36-year-old's debt.
The page received more attention after Jones was called for a technical foul from the bench in Friday's night NBA Finals win. According to ESPN.com's Brian Windhorst, the ensuing fine nearly wiped out Jones' salary:
Potentially on the hook for more money, James probably isn't laughing. Richard Jefferson, however, seems to be enjoying the situation. Per For The Win's Alysha Tsuji, he responded to the GoFundMe page on Snapchat:
Smith pledged to redirect donations that don't pay the fines to a charity of Jones' choice.
