Markelle Fultz Reportedly Will Only Work Out for Celtics Before 2017 NBA Draft
Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer reported Tuesday that NBA draft prospect Markelle Fultz will only work out for the Boston Celtics.
According to Pompey, Fultz and Lonzo Ball are the only top prospects not scheduled to work out for the Philadelphia 76ers, who hold the No. 3 overall selection.
The Celtics hold the No. 1 overall pick, and Fultz is widely regarded as the top prospect in the class.
In Chad Ford's latest mock draft released Tuesday on ESPN.com, he projected the C's to select Fultz with the top pick.
If it holds true that Fultz works out for only Boston, he will be the second player in the draft to limit himself to working out for one team.
Ball's father, LaVar Ball, made it clear to Ryan Ward of Lakers Nation last month that his son would work out only for the Los Angeles Lakers, who have the No. 2 overall pick.
In one season at the University of Washington, Fultz averaged 23.2 points, 5.9 assists, 5.7 rebounds, 1.6 steals and 1.2 blocks per game.
If the Celtics select him, he will join a backcourt that includes Isaiah Thomas and Avery Bradley.
