Tyronn Lue Says Cavaliers Have to 'Go Home and Regroup' After 2-0 Finals Deficit

Joseph ZuckerJun 4, 2017

Cleveland Cavaliers head coach Tyronn Lue remained positive despite his team falling behind 2-0 in the 2017 NBA Finals following a 132-113 defeat to the Golden State Warriors on Sunday night.

After the game, Lue pointed to the fact the series will shift to Cleveland for Game 3, giving the Cavs some much-needed home-court support, per the team's official Twitter account:

Last year, the Cavaliers lost the first two games of the Finals by a combined 48 points before beating the Warriors 120-90 in Game 3.

While a partisan Quicken Loans Arena crowd should provide a boost for Cleveland's players, they're facing a Warriors team that is better positioned to win a title than last year's squad.

Golden State isn't burdened by the physical toll that winning an NBA-record 73 games added, Stephen Curry is 100 percent after an ankle injury dogged him throughout last season's postseason and Kevin Durant has been dominant on both ends of the court.

Durant had a double-double in Game 2, scoring 33 points and grabbing 13 rebounds. He added six assists, five blocks and three steals as well.

ESPN Stats & Info put Durant's offensive output in perspective:

Lue has proven himself to be a good coach, bringing the Cavaliers together following David Blatt's firing in January 2016 and then winning an NBA title in his debut season. Lue also had a hand in Cleveland cruising through the Eastern Conference en route to the Finals this year.

But at this point, there's seemingly little Lue can do to close the talent gap between the Cavaliers and Warriors.
