Spelling Bee Contestant Impresses with Quick Spelling of 'Mogollon'

Zac WassinkJun 1, 2017

On Thursday night, Scripps National Spelling Bee contestant Shourav Dasari didn't need to think for long when asked to spell "mogollon."

In fact, the 14-year-old practically began spelling the word after repeating it only a single time.

As those familiar with the spelling bee know, contestants often ask to learn additional information about a word, such as its definition and part of speech, and to hear the word used in a sentence.

Dasari, meanwhile, quickly delivered his correct spelling of "mogollon," and he then began to walk back to his seat even before learning he was correct.

It can't be considered a walk-off spell since he didn't win, but Dasari certainly dropped the mic with this memorable moment that will likely be replayed for years.
