Allsports Commentary: Toronto Maple Leafs, one of the Worst starts Ever

So its official, if you look in sports news or sports on the web today there will be something written about the Toronto Maple Leafs having one of their worst starts in franchise history. The 1990-91 team, which came out of the gates with an 0-6-1 mark  which wasbb the worst ever by a Toronto squad.

The Leafs were in New York last night where the Rangers slapped them with a 7- 2 loss. So that’s a total of one point in the first five games. The point came on a overtime loss to Montreal opening night.

It was the same story again last night. The Leafs were working to get themselves back into the game, then a collective brainfart and the puck is in their net.

Vesa Toskala has been ordinary at best but he has not had much help in front of him either. The Leafs have displayed very little in structure and cohesive play. Everyone seems to be trying to do too much with the result being that they get caught running around and invariably an assignment is missed, the opposition is left unattended and the puck is in the net.

Maybe the time has come to bring some of the young guys back up that played so well in the preseason. Let some veterans ride the pine for a while or go down to the farm club and get their act together. It’s not like they have far to travel.

The Leafs are back at it tonight when they host the Colorado Avalanche at the ACC.
