Cleveland Cavaliers Reveal Photos of New Logo for 2017-18 Season
A day before Game 1 of the 2017 NBA Finals, the Cleveland Cavaliers unveiled their new global logo that they'll implement for the 2017-18 season.
The Cavs on Wednesday tweeted out the new look they will display next season:
Cavs chief marketing officer Tracy Marek explained the decision to shake up the team's logo, via an official release from NBA.com: "While the foundation of the Cavaliers brand remains steeped in traditions that link generations of fans, it is important that our brand identity reflects who we are in the present and where we are going in the future."
According to the press release, the Cavaliers are making black one of their primary colors in the new look as a "nod to the historic turning point" in last year's NBA Finals when players wore the black-sleeved uniforms in Game 5 and 7 to defeat the Golden State Warriors.
The Cavaliers are making their fourth appearance in the NBA Finals this year. It will be their third straight matchup with the Warriors, with both teams having won one title in the past two years.
